SIgns Of The Times

Signs of the times began with one photo, a sign hanging from a tree the read “We support the frontline workers”. Once I started looking, I saw hundreds of yard signs, all an attempt to be heard while socially isolating. The year 2020 was not an easy one, The covid19 pandemic, the most contensious election of our lifetime, and the oubreak of many civil movements made for an emotionally charged year. While suffering from stepping away from portraiture, I turned my lens to document the silent screams for justice, support, alliance and hope. This project is unedited and was shot on 35mm film and a minolta

x-7a.

In a year I thought would be my most artistically empty, I was able to create my most meaningful project.

The “signs of the times” project made it to the front page of the albuqerque journal Oct. 16 2020, written by Jolene Guitierez.

The project is now proudly hosted by the Abq museum historical archives.
